tornado

I was working in the ED when all the tornados came through Sanford, we started getting reports of the Lowe's hardware being destroyed and then we started moving beds, calling extra hands, and preparing for all the people. As everyone started arriving it was like a scene from a movie. The first people were soaking wet, dirt and grass blasted all over them, and several lacerations and injuries. They had been in a ditch when the tornado passed around them. Then people started coming in from various scenes like MVCs and collapsed houses. We sent several to surgery, one was flown out (after the weather cleared) and the rest were treated and sent on their way. It was a crazy scene and there was a lot of damage to the eastern part of NC.

Sanford Herald article

We didn't have too much damage from the storm where I live but a tree limb did break off and fall onto the roof damaging the roof and the ac units. No one in the house was hurt, they were all hiding in the basement!

I'm still here

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted. I have been super busy with packing, moving, unpacking, attending orientation for work, and actually starting in the ED. It's been a crazy last few weeks but things are slowly getting unpacked and organized and life is starting to get into a routine that isn't crazy busy. The ED has been pretty good so far and I'll just say I'm so glad the hospital orientation is over!! I'm finally starting on my new craft goal, which is crocheting an entire blanket. And this evening for dessert I'm hoping to make some angry birds cupcakes! I'm so excited, I'll post some pictures when they are done!

first box packed

I have been busy with work and "thinking" about packing :-) but I finally got started and got my first box packed today, I have actually finished 5 boxes now. The clothes and shoes in my closet are sorted through and packed. So that really only leaves just about everything else... This weekend is going to be super busy, I'm going out with my fabulous friends Ryan and Kayla tonight, work 24 tomorrow, church then driving to Raleigh on Sunday, orientation til 5 then driving back to Hickory on Monday, then my LAST day of work at EMS on Tuesday! Then most likely spending most of the day Wednesday and Thursday finishing packing. Hopefully Friday going back to Raleigh to move everything then back to Hickory on Saturday for my Aunt Kim's wedding!! Seems like I'll be tied up til next weekend but I'll try to make it back at some point this week so I can share some honeymoon pictures!

oh the dresses...

I was recently asked by my friend Olivia to make her bridesmaid's dresses for her wedding. She wanted the same kind I made for my wedding, the infinity dress. I felt very honored to be asked to make them, as I am not a seamstress by any means. We got them finished tonight and I think they all turned out great!! Here are a few pictures of the ones I made for my wedding...

The dresses all twisted up since the straps are so long!

This is what the dresses look like laid out on the floor.

All my beautiful girls!!

I learned to make these dresses using this tutorial and watching videos on youtube. They are super easy to make and I think they look great on everyone because you can wear it however you like!

New Blog!

So I've decided to make a new blog! I just got married (two weeks ago actually!) I am moving to Raleigh (I should be packing instead of blogging) and starting a new job as a RN in the emergency dept. I want to share my adventures in married life, nursing, crafting, and anything else that might come along!! I hope you'll come back occasionally or a lot :-)
